Sit Back and Relax

Photo taken May 31, 2013 in Ypsilanti, Michigan

Just after the magnificent mist...the sun peeked out and provided a nice sunset! There is a little wooden stool I would have liked to have someone sit there for a silhouette but I'm happy with how it is without a person! :) What do you think?

I just took this photo about 30 minutes ago...I first noticed the really really misty look as it was raining and was in awe! Not every landscape photo has to have a nice sunset! :) I quickly grabbed my gear and an umbrella and as I was walking around the shore I noticed the 2 fishermen perfectly posed in the distance...I knew right from there, that, that was the image I've been wanting for a long time! FYI...very minimal editing done to this: Artistically exposed and sharpened, then converted to black and white! Let me know what you think!

"Hmmm...should I go for it?"

The same Red Fox kit as posted in the last photo. He was a little skittish at first but after a few minutes he got used to me and then was walking around and exploring. In this photo he was staring at the fish that was splashing all over the place in the nearby stream. I was hoping he would go after it or something...no worries, I will be back for more photos once again. ;)

Yes, I went back to visit the same family of Red Fox kits... I couldn't help myself, they are too cute! We showed up around 9:45 a.m. this morning and only saw one of the kits...still though, they are amazing to watch! I got some good shots in good lighting for once! :) He wasn't shy at all...in fact, my sister got a decent "Iphone snapshot"...thats how curious he was. I think I might name this guy. ;) I've gotten attached! Laugh out loud! I will post more photos for you all to enjoy soon!

Green Heron

I went birding with my grandpa today all over Ypsilanti and we stumbled across a couple Green Herons! This was the only GH that came within good photo distance, and he put on a show! He would walk around the whole shore and then stop and stare at the water, waiting for a fish. After about 15 I saw him make a really quick stab at the water, ate the little fish, and flew off! I love these birds! Oh and by the way...my grandpa was sleeping on a nearby bench while I photographed him...typical grandpa:)

This particular Warbler came so close to me that I had to back up slowly and and zoom out...once again, another close encounter with a Warbler! :) I just love this type of Warbler as well...they are very colorful and fun to watch!

This beautiful Magnolia Warbler came so close to me that I had to back up and zoom out on my lens! All the Magnolia Warblers at Magee Marsh were very curious and came extremely close! Awesome colors on this bird for a fairly common one!

I had the chance to go to Magee Marsh in Ohio this past Saturday and Monday in search of photographing many migrating Warblers and more birds! It was such an experience! I saw, in all, over 30 new species for me including this Yellow Warbler! These Warblers were fairly common and would come very close and sing a beautiful song! MORE photos coming soon!

Rainbow and Robins Nest

Photo taken May 5, 2013 at Belle Isle, Michigan
Nikon D90, Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm, f4.5, 1/50 at ISO 2000

Simply good luck for me in this one! A Rainbow promising hope for a bright future for these Robins eggs! :) I noticed this nest on top of the fence post just off the side of a somewhat, busy street. What a brave move on the mothers part! I didn't notice the rainbow at first...that was a bonus for me! It's very faint but still visible and cool! :)

Belle Isle Park in Michigan has tons of little ponds, streams and lakes and is great to photograph sunsets/sunrises there! In this photo I got down inches away from this rock and captured the Sunset-y-glow on the foreground as well. Great place to visit as well as to see Wildlife! Great day this was!

Red-Headed Woodpecker

Photo take May 2, 2013 at Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan
Nikon D90, 300mm f5.6, 1/1000 at ISO 200
----------
My first ever sighting of a Red-headed Woodpecker! These Woodpeckers are so cool and not very common in where I live, so to see one and get decent shots was really great! I know this isn't the best, clearest shot I've ever taken (had to crop a bit) but I'm just happy to have a photo to show!
